'Twas a sunny day, so I got up early(full of the cold) and decided to go for one of my favourite drives and hit the road to Glenshee.
The CLACH NA COILEACH or Stone of the Cockerel. In 1635 the Earl of Athols men began a sweep of the area to collect half of all the livestock owned by the people of the land. A band of his men took all of a widows stock leaving her nothing to survive the coming winter and after mocking her poverty they ran of laughing. The widow complained to her landlord McComie Mor who took justice by killing two of the bandits with mighty sweeps of his sword. The others fled and dropped the sack containing the cockerel which immediately jumped upon this rock and crowed in defiance.
